Last week we were out at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, AZ checking out the fresh look the Whiplash Motorsports team has given the off-road course. After bringing in several tons of dirt, bull dozers, front end loaders and the like, the once Jeep off-road rock climbing area has been transformed into a bad ass dirt track for dirt biking and quad mashing.
While myself and the Pure Racing crew were out there, we had the pleasure of meeting the guys behind Sport-TAG and Checkpoint Scoring. Together, they were installing several transponder checkpoints throughout the new dirt track at Firebird in order to help the team at Whiplash integrate the new technology into upcoming races.
For those of you who aren’t in the know, Sport-TAG is a racing transponder system that uses the latest technologies to integrate its service with existing race scoring systems. Their main goals are to accurately read and process hundreds of riders at once while also providing a speedy registration process. Some other cool features of the racing transponder are its impeccable 99.9% accuracy rate (even in rain and muddy conditions) and the fact it requires no charging. The Sport-Tag racing transponder is truly state of the art software, and is quickly becoming the transponder of choice in the motocross industry for dirt bikes, quads, rally cars, trophy trucks, buggies and class 1 cars.
Granted, the Sport-TAG racing transponder is easily integrated into most scoring systems, but if we had to recommend one on our own, it would be the CheckPoint Scoring system. I mean, if Whiplash Racing uses it, its gotta be good, right? CheckPoint Scoring is a complete scoring system that integrates an easily managed software on your pc with bar codes, bar code readers and other RFID equipment. They are big advocates of testing their products before they release them on the market to ensure the highest level of accuracy and quality. CheckPoint’s scoring software has been used in numerous National Off-Road Events and for good reason. Their software features real time scoring, post race reporting, easily exportable data and electronic display compatibility for on track signage.
After getting the 411 on this awesome new racing system, we’re excited to check it out in action this weekend at the Snowflake 250 taking place between Heber, AZ and Snowflake, AZ this weekend. If you can’t make it up there for the race, make sure to come party with us on the dirt track at Firebird Raceway in October.
